Still under campus lockdown
Somehow it feels like school has been locked down since the semester started, and it still hasn’t ended.

Nucleic acid testing is now every two days.

The mulberries on campus are finally edible.
It’s been more than twenty days since I last wrote anything down. Life at school has been so repetitive that I just didn’t feel like keeping a diary. Everyone’s testing schedule has gone from once a week to once every two days, and the outbreak situation in Tai’an seems worse than it was last month.
Dokemon
It actually seems kind of fun?
Out of everything I’ve done over these past twenty-something days, the thing I’ve spent the most time on is this project.
When I was little, I really liked Pokémon games. I played the first generation on an emulator, and after I beat it in elementary school, I remember having this strange empty feeling, like I didn’t want it to end. It was a very specific kind of mood. Later on I played a lot of other monster-battling games too, but none of them really had that same Pokémon feel.
Back in the Symbian era, there was also a company that made the first two games in the Pet Kingdom series, Blue and Purple, and those felt very much like they were paying tribute to Pokémon—well, maybe a little more than paying tribute. The later entries, like Gold, Platinum, and Rainbow, gradually built their own setting and story.
Anyway, back to the point: Dokemon. The name alone makes it obvious that it’s meant as a tribute to Pokémon. It’s a purely passion-driven open-source project: an online pet-battle MUD text game.
Right now it’s definitely not playable yet. It’s only been in development for about half a month.

Study!
I might kind of be slacking off...?

I’ve been going to the library study room almost every day.
Since the beginning of May, I’ve been spending one to three hours there nearly every day, either coding or memorizing vocabulary. The CET-4 and CET-6 exams are getting close, and I really need to pass this time.
To be honest, I still waste a lot of time. I’m literally writing this diary entry in the library right now. But I have learned quite a bit too—yes, including from chatting in group conversations, not just messing around.

Even if a lot of it is just random chatter, you can still pick up a little knowledge through conversation. For example: how to use a search engine.

Haha.
Still, after spending half a month building Dokemon with React, I really do feel like my frontend skills have improved quite a bit. Maybe it’s just an illusion, but it doesn’t feel like one.
Lanqiao Cup?
I signed up for the national finals. Now when exactly am I supposed to prepare?

It hurt a little to spend those 300 yuan. But if I win something, the reward should be better than the registration fee... probably. That said, last year’s prize money still hasn’t arrived even now. Please don’t delay payments to college students.
Steam?
I haven’t played games in ages. Totally true. Definitely not a lie.

I really haven’t opened Steam in a long time.
The last Steam game I played was Operation: Tango with a friend. After we finished it, I more or less stopped. Playing alone just feels boring. So lately I’ve mostly been playing League of Legends with classmates instead.
