To be honest, aside from car insurance, I’ve never paid much attention to insurance in general. I’ve heard plenty about it over the years, but most of what I heard was negative, so I’ve never had much goodwill toward it. If anything, I’ve always been a bit resistant to the whole idea.
A lot of the stories sound the same: someone gets seriously ill, spends well over a hundred thousand yuan, and even though they had insurance, the final reimbursement is less than ten thousand. On top of that, the claims process can be exhausting. You end up running back and forth between the hospital, gathering paperwork, and sometimes even needing additional local proof documents. It really does sound like a hassle.
That said, insurance isn’t completely useless either. Some policies probably are worth buying. After all, nobody knows whether tomorrow comes first or an accident does. Even a minor hospital visit can cost several thousand, and anything more serious is usually counted in tens of thousands. For most ordinary people, that kind of expense is hard to handle. So if there’s a policy that genuinely fits, it may be worth getting one for a little extra protection. There are just too many modern “tech” products around us now, and with the small health issues that build up over time, it really does feel like the body isn’t as tough as it used to be.
I’ve also talked about this with a friend who works around the industry. His advice was not to buy from an acquaintance who sells insurance. Instead, it’s better to look at something that friends or relatives around you have actually bought and successfully claimed from. Rumors and secondhand talk aren’t reliable. The money may not seem like much, but it still has to be useful when the time comes.
A few days ago, my partner said we should get insurance for our child. Kids are naturally active and restless, so the risk of accidents is obviously higher. A relative had bought this plan before and had actually used it, and thought it was pretty good, which is why it was recommended to us. The cost wasn’t high either—just a few dozen yuan a month. In the end, we went ahead and bought it for the whole family. The adults’ coverage was a bit cheaper, and for all three of us it came to around 120 yuan per month in total. That felt acceptable to me—just one more layer of protection.

By the way, this was bought through Alipay’s Hao Yi Bao. Has anyone here used it before?
I’d actually started writing this a while ago, but work has been so busy that I kept getting pulled away and never finished it. I only managed to come back and wrap it up today. It’s already Thursday, and whenever life gets hectic, time seems to move ridiculously fast. Just thinking about several more days of overtime, plus annual leave I still haven’t taken, is tiring enough. Since I’m required to use that leave up before the end of the year, I’m taking tomorrow off and planning to get some real rest.
This morning I suddenly had a strong craving for noodles, so I got myself a bowl of beef brisket noodles. The flavor was pretty good—only problem was, the chili wasn’t spicy at all.
